Technical Support Engineer – North Sydney

About the Role

Exterity’s Technical Support Teams provide global post-sales support to Exterity’s network of partners (resellers and distributors). Together with the broader support team including Solutions Consultants based around the world, the team also assists the global sales team with pre-sales technical enquiries.

Exterity has had a team operating in the Australia since 2015 and this role will provide Post Sales support to our growing Asia customer base.  Based in our North Sydney office and reporting to the Technical Manager, the position of Technical Support Engineer will involve the following on a day to day basis:

  • Providing email/telephone support to Exterity’s partners between 9am and 6pm, Monday - Friday
  • Assisting Exterity’s sales team and solutions consultants with pre-sales technical enquiries
  • Troubleshooting problems/answering questions related to:
    • Exterity’s products
    • Digital video and broadcast TV
    • IP networking and IP multicast
    • Integration with 3rd party products
  • Assisting partners and application developers to integrate with Exterity products using Exterity’s published APIs.
  • Writing knowledgebase articles to share information both internally and externally

The role will also involve the following on an occasional basis:

  • Travel (mainly in ANZ) in order to assist with equipment installation and/or troubleshooting.
  • Out of hours working

About You

The successful candidate will fit one of the following profiles:

  • A technical professional with some experience of post-sales support, pre-sales support and/or field engineer roles and you are looking to advance your career by gaining further experience.


  • Following completion of your qualifications (see below) this will be your first role in the industry and you are looking to start your career in this field.

The ideal candidate will meet many of the below criteria:

  • Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking or related field
  • Good general skills in computing and technology
  • Some knowledge of IP network-based products and IP networking solutions
  • Some knowledge of digital audio/video technologies
  • Skills in software, shell scripting and/or web development

In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to build customer relationships
  • The desire and commitment to provide great customer service
  • The ability to work independently while also working as part of a wider team

About the Role

Exterity are recruiting Graduate Software Engineers to develop our next generation of products and applications, delivering high quality TV and video over enterprise IP networks. The scope of possibilities is endless as the team are constantly developing new ideas and products.

We challenge our engineering teams to develop and build applications that span our range of IPTV products, from head end through to set top box and server, building a coherent and comprehensive technology stack. We call it create, play, control.

As an Exterity Engineer, your code will be used by professional AV system administrators and embedded in end user products used by consumers like you.

About You

You are likely to be studying towards or have achieved a technical degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.
