Exterity promotes Andrew Smith to UK Sales Director

Edinburgh, 20 January 2021 We're delighted to announce Andrew Smith’s promotion to UK Sales Director. Smith will be spearheading Exterity’s continued drive to empower UK organisations with best-in-class IPTV technologies as they prepare for the future and navigate new challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic. In his previous position as UK Sales Manager, Smith acted as the key liaison point for a number of high-profile UK customers, including Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Wembley, University of Bath and Southbank University.

Andrew Smith Exterity UK Sales Director

Smith, who joined Exterity in 2011, brings over 20 years’ experience in AV technologies to the role. His career began in sales at GV Multimedia before he moved into the IT Sector working for Computacenter, then back into the AV market working with IVC and Feltech. This extensive experience of working with both resellers and partners has given Smith a great understanding of the needs of both end users and resellers and the ability to advise and assist with complete end-to-end IP-based solutions.

Exterity CEO Colin Farquhar said that having a strong sales leader in the company’s home market is crucial:

The UK is a critically important market for IP video and digital signage technologies, and it is fundamental that we have high-quality, local support and insights to match our front-line solutions. Andrew has been at the core of our UK channel sales activity over the past nine years, and I’m excited to have him take on this new role and the responsibility for further developing and growing our UK sales activity.

Colin Farquhar, CEO at Exterity

Andrew Smith will join his Exterity colleague, UK Solutions Consultant Michael Reader, to present an online session on The Role of Digital Signage and IPTV in Government, at the Government ICT Conference on Thursday 21 January. The virtual event, Accelerating the Pace of ICT in Government, brings together over 500 senior technology leaders in central and local government and the wider public sector to share information on best practice and strategy. You can register for Government ICT here and connect with the UK team during the event.

Smith’s promotion follows a year of high-profile UK award wins for Exterity, including Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2020, London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ 2020, and Outstanding Business Award at Fife Business Awards 2020.

Commenting on Exterity’s award success in 2020, Farquhar said:

Receiving recognition for our efforts in the UK and beyond last year was a fantastic achievement and testament to our continued investment in R&D and in the best talent. Since our inception in 2001, we have always focused on providing the best solutions, brought to the market by the best people, establishing connections across the world, whilst proudly sticking to our roots as a Scottish business.
