AV Systems Integrator creates unique solutions with Exterity technology
London, 23 August 2005: Exterity, a specialist in network audio-visual (AV), has today announced a partnership with Team4, a leading broadcast and AV systems integrator. As part of the relationship Team4 will develop and enhance Exterity's encoder and decoder technology to deliver broadcast-standard TV and multi-media content across an IP (Internet Protocol) network. Exterity will provide Team4 with comprehensive product training and ongoing sales support. Working together both companies will target the private and public sector including education, police and healthcare.
"Over the past ten years, the public sector in the UK has invested heavily in large bandwidth networks, which at present are not being used to their full capacity," commented Colin Farquhar, Chief Executive Officer, Exterity. "Through working with Team4 we can help the public sector make the most out of existing bandwidth and at the same time deliver television and other multimedia content across the network to any end point".
Team4 will resell and develop Exterity's idaptor, tridaptor and isocket technology. Exterity's idaptor and tridaptor are 'plug and play' broadcast TV to network distribution products. Taking up to six DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial) or DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite) feeds, the TVgateways will stream the programme contents of up to six broadcast TV multiplexes over a building network. The idaptor and tridaptor TVgateways make IPTV head-ends a cost-effective alternative to traditional TV and video distribution systems for organisations. Once on the building network the TV channels can be delivered through IPTV set-top-box products such as the Exterity isocket receiver, or through PC's using streaming video clients such as Windows Media Player.
"It is only through using Exterity??A?A?A?s technology that Team 4 can deliver IP-based AV solutions," commented Paul Vanlint, Managing Director, Team 4. "Exterity??A?A?A?s technology easily integrates with our existing solution and will help us up-sell to existing customers and offer new clients a bespoke networked AV solution."
