Exterity Expands AvediaStream Range with SD MPEG-4 H.264 Encoders |
London, 23rd March 2010: Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, today announces the launch of new MPEG-4 H.264 SD encoder additions to its AvediaStream family. The new devices, the AvediaStream e2522, AvediaStream e2532 and the AvediaStream e2552, will enable greater policy control by providing organisations with the ability to scale high-quality video sources such as HD video inputs to SD resolutions and frame rates, creating lower bitrate channel streams for distribution over WANs, wireless networks, the Internet or anywhere network bandwidth is at a premium.
The new encoders take signals from sources such as DVD players, set-top boxes or digital cameras and using the built-in scalar present the video source to the encoder at an appropriate resolution and frame rate. The H.264 SD encoders will provide twice the quality of an MPEG-2 encoder at the same bandwidth, enabling organisations that are limited to either SD video inputs or low bandwidths to stream the highest possible quality images.
"Whilst we are seeing the demand for HD continue to rise, it is important to remember that not all organisations have the capacity to stream HD channels or they may have network limitations that prevent them from doing so throughout their entire campuses," says Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. "The new additions to the Exterity family of AvediaStream encoders will ensure that organisations across a wide variety of industries, whether corporate, hospitality, healthcare or education, can stream HD video sources to SD-enabled end devices where required without the need for a separate SD video source or external scalar. Not only does this reduce overall costs, but it also facilitates improved network traffic management, ensuring network managers can deliver the optimum visual experience with the resources at their disposal."
