Exterity to showcase IPTV solution from the Cannes Film Festival at InfoComm

Atlanta, Georgia, 9th June: Fresh from the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France, Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, is attending InfoComm 2011. Taking place from 15th-17th June at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida,  Exterity will showcase its leading IPTV technology, demonstrating how IP based video distribution technology was used to upgrade content delivery at the Cannes Film Festival, the second most media-covered event in the world, just after the Olympic Games.

Early this year, organizers of the festival decided to make fundamental changes to the way daily content from the event was being distributed to attending broadcast media by switching to IPTV technology from Exterity. While previously content in Cannes could only be seen on three large screen at the heart of the Palais des Festivals, Exterity’s solution distributed between 20 and 25 videos every day via IP to each journalist. Video streams were available on demand to workstations with additional distribution to central TV screens using AvediaPlayer receivers specially provided for the purpose.

To further enhance the solution, Exterity’s IPTV streams shared the network with a VoIP system. This enabled each journalist to provide on demand access to video footage from the Exterity system, while allowing journalists to make crucial voice calls all using the same IP network.

“The eyes of the broadcasting world were on Cannes that week. While that was certainly a lot of pressure, it was also the perfect showcase for our communications technology in terms of reliability for world leading live events, multi-user distribution and ease of installation,” comments Exterity’s CEO Colin Farquhar.
