Exterity First to Market with DVB-T2 TVgateways |
Building IPTV specialist introduces two new products to support forthcoming terrestrial HD standard.
London, 17th March 2010: Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, today announces the launch of the industry’s first DVB-T2 TVgateway products, designed to support the forthcoming DVB-T2 standard that will be used by broadcasters to deploy terrestrial HD TV channels.
With DVB-T2 now available in London, Manchester and Glasgow, the company has launched two products to support these standards, the Exterity DVB-T2 TVgateway and the Exterity DVB-T2 TVgateway with Conditional Access Module (CAM), which also enables organisations to decrypt encrypted channels. Both TVgateways are backwards compatible with standard existing DVB-T signals, ensuring that organisations can deploy them as part of their regular system upgrades and introduce the DVB-T2 standard once broadcasters have adopted the new standard.
Exterity has also introduced PID filtering across its entire AvediaStream TVgateway range, providing organisations with fine-grained control over audio, subtitles and other channel metadata. As a result, organisations will be able to create multiple in-house channels in different languages from the same DVB-T(2) stream or eliminate extra data traffic such as unnecessary languages or subtitles from their networks as and when required.
"The DVB-T2 standard is at the cutting edge of broadcast technology with broadcasters such as the BBC leading the development of this standard," says Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. “As such, Exterity is proud to be the first company to introduce a range of TVgateways that will support this new terrestrial HD standard. Users are becoming ever more demanding regarding the quality of the viewing experience they expect and the Exterity DVB-T2 TVgateways will help orgnanisations, whether they are in the hospitality, education, healthcare or corporate sectors, meet these increasing demands.
"The introduction of PID filtering across our entire TVgateway range of products will also give our customers unprecedented control of the services they deliver to users. Not only will they be able to tailor their own channels, but they’ll also be able to eliminate unnecessary data from their networks, ensuring that they meet the ever-increasing expectations of customers whilst reducing overall costs."
